YSI's mission is to manufacture quality yachts using the latest technology, while providing superior value to our clients.

Our production methods will create a safe, cost-effective and waste-minimum facility that addresses environmental issues.

We are dedicated to enhancing the boat building crafts person of Atlantic Canada.

Facility

YSI's shop at 2 Maitland St; Dartmouth Cove encompases 30,000 sq. feet of indoor heated space on the waterfront.

We have full-scale Yacht construction capabilities in:
Steel, Aluminium and FRP. Our facility can accomodate up to four 80' LOA yachts under construction at the same time.

We also have the capabilities and experience to undertake general and special marine design and engineering work or repairs.

Director of Business & Administration
David has over 25 years experience in management and administration.

As Vice President, Business Development & Employee Relations at Credit Union Atlantic, he was involved assisting business financially, with marketing, project development & implementation, and employing new technology.

As Investment Manager (Atlantic Canada) for GRT Management Corporation - a wholly owned subsidiary of Imperial Consultants, he represented one of the largest managers of Immigrant Investment Funds in Canada. He was responsible for locating, analyzing and recommending qualified projects for investment.

Prior to that, David held various senior management positions, over a ten year period, with a major Canadian bank.

David is a graduate of the Canadian Institute of Management, obtaining both the C.I.M. and P.Mgr. designations. He has also completed various management, human resource and financial programs through the Bank and Credit Union Central.

For the past six years he has been involved in yacht construction, first as Business Manager for a local company building luxury yachts and now as a partner and CEO in YachtSmiths International Inc.

David currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association.

Director of Engineering
Brian is a graduate of the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS), now Dalhousie University. He has obtained his M.A.Sc., P. Eng. and is currently studying for his PhD. part-time.

His extensive marine experience includes a stint in the Canadian Navy as a combat systems engineer, a project / consulting engineer on several marine construction projects, and Director of Engineering & Production at two yacht construction facilities.

Brian is also a Founding Director of the Nova Scotia Boat Builders Association.
